An Interview with the Webmaster:

Who are you?

For, uhh, personal reasons (read: I cannot have anyone I know in real life know I have a website), I won’t be sharing my name. But, if you want to refer to me, you can call me Lavender!

Why don’t you want anyone to know you have a website? Are you, by any chance, embarrassed?

No, no, not at all! It’s kind of the opposite, really. I wanted a space where I could just… be me, I guess, without worrying about other people and what they think of me.

So you’re someone who really cares about what others think about you, huh?

I mean, yeah, but doesn’t everyone? I feel there’s a certain level of ‘preoccupied with other people’ you need to be in order to… you know, live and interact with others. Although, sure, I’ll admit that I am a bit more susceptible to thinking about other’s views of me compared to most. This site is helping me get better with that though!

Uh huh, sure. Moving on, what made you create a website?

To be honest, I actually only found out about neocities because I saw that someone whose webcomic I read also had a site here, so I poked around some other sites here and realised how cool it could be to have a corner of the internet all to myself! And, I’ve also always wanted to create my own site, even when the only html colour I knew was goldenrod.

Did you code this whole site yourself?

Yes and no. I actually used sadgrl’s layout builder for the main layout (the one you see on the home page, this page, and the blog), but all of the newer pages (anything which doesn’t have the lavenderblues header) were me, more or less. The other non-me page is the WIP ‘Umbra’ page, for which I’ve linked the credits in that page (I believe I used an EggRamen template).

So what, are you some sort of master coder or something?

Haha, no way. I can barely manage html half the time. Any cool effects (i.e. anything involving javascript) are usually ones I found from a tutorial or from a free resource. To be honest, this site is more like a… medium, for me to communicate whatever it is I want to put into the world, be it my blog & various reviews, my art, or just general passion for things. While I do take enjoyment in the coding side of things, I think it appeals more to the artistic side of me rather than some innate coder I suppose.

And, um, when you aren’t investing your time into… whatever this is, what are you doing?

Oh, uh, to be honest I’m usually bogged down with studying in my day-to-day routine. But aside from that, I’ll probably be watching VTubers, drawing, or furiously consuming any media I get my hands on!

Oh, really, what kind of media do you like?

Honestly, I’m pretty into most forms of media. Reading books, watching films, reading webcomics and/or manga. I’m generally someone who likes horror media (although for some reason horror webcomics never really do it for me), and it kind of shows (my favourite film is Hereditary). Aside from that, I love anything with a good plot twist (once again, think Hereditary). One other example might be Worm (in terms of books). Clearly, I also really like morally grey characters in fiction, and really admire when creators go down that path for their work.

Right, okay, I think that’s all the questions I have for you today. Any final remarks?

Not really, no. I just hope anyone who made it this far will enjoy looking through my si-
